12 July 2005 Chant Donne reduxI posted back in May about Maurice Durufle's beautiful Chant Donne (Hommage a Jean Gallon). Pretty much all Durufle's organ music, except for the Soissons carillon, is published by editions Durand. But Blackwell's in Oxford looked through their records for me and had no record of sheet music for the Chant Donne. Perhaps not too surprising - the Durufle Association only lists it as part of a 1953 album. So thank you, thank you, thank you to the kind organist who e-mailed me a scanned copy. I'll be playing it this Sunday. On the off-chance, I've e-mailed Barenreiter to suggest they consider it for their excellent Vox Humana series. It deserves a wider audience. CommentsHi there, Any chance that you might make the scanned copy available to others. I've been trying to trace this for a while and I was going to try Blackwells but see no point now. If you were able to forward a scanned copy, that would be superbly kind. With every good wish, Gareth Posted by Gareth Price on 28.10.05 16:53 I would also love a copy. I have been trying to find it for quite a while. Sorry to jump on the band-wagon. If anyone who has access to it reads this, please do send me a copy - I would be most grateful. Posted by Simon Biazeck on 14.7.06 18:23 Just come across your page above whilst doing a search on Duruflé's "Chant Donne - Hommage a Jean Gallon". I wasn't aware that it was unpublished as I was just about to go to my usual music supplier to order a copy. I appreciate this is a little forward as well but I also would like to obtain a copy and would be most grateful if you could forward me one. I will gladly pay costs/provide a donation to your church in lieu of purchasing the score. Best regards Posted by Nick Bland on 29.7.07 20:02 |
